PATINA November 10, 2024 Meeting featuring saw expert Aaron Smith

Our November 10 program was entitled “All About Saws”. Attendees were encouraged to bring early or custom-made hand saws as well as saw sharpening tools, books, or early sawmaker catalogs, etc. 

The well attended and very interesting presentation featured speaker Aaron Smith, who described different types of handsaws and what they are used for. Aaron graciously came down from his home in upstate New York to present to our club.

He covered tooth geometry and the tools needed to sharpen saws, as well as techniques for removing bends, kinks and removing tension. Additionally he described and demonstrated how to sharpen a hand saw for making rip and crosscuts.

The program featured much Q and A as well as lively interaction from the attendees.

Many attendees brought favorites from both their go-to shop users as well as from their personal collections!
