PATINA Annual Tool Show and Auction and Auction

The next 'annual' PATINA Tool Show and Auction will be held Saturday March 15, 2025 at the Damascus Maryland Volunteer Fire Association Activity Center at 10211 Lewis Drive, Damascus, Maryland, 20874.

With the ending of major tool events in Nashua and elsewhere, we believe we have the largest tool swap in the country! Attendees at our March, 2024 tool show came from Maine, Wisconsin, Florida, Tennessee and in between!

The Dealer Tool Sale and Auction will be held rain or shine, wind or snow and is open to the general public. It consists of tailgating (Friday and Saturday outside), a dealer tool sale (inside Hall) and a tool auction (Saturday inside Hall). The vendors/dealers for the tool show set up in the first two thirds of the building and the auction in the last 1/3. The lots are open for inspection all day. The lots usually feature antique tools, planes, chisels and the like but can also have user tools, antiques, collectables, signs and even some scientific-type pieces. PATINA club members, vendors and general public attendees all bid on lots they desire.

PATINA auctions feature vintage tools from virtually all aspects of the tool spectrum. We love vintage mechanics and machinist tools, too! If you have vintage Snap-on, MAC, Starrett, Brown and Sharpe or Mitutoyo tools you'd like to consign, please contact us!!

Our auction takes place on the same day as the dealer tool sale and starts at 1:00 pm. You are invited to consign tools or items such as books, catalogs or artwork that pertain to the subject of tools.

Tailgating is free to the public attendees and dealers, although the club requests tailgating vendor donations to help cover facility expense. The $15 donations will be applied to membership for new members.

As always at our PATINA tool shows and auctions, you do not need to be a club member to attend or bid on any auction items and their is never a buyers premium.

Attendee Information

This event is open to the general public and is free to all attendees during regular business hours. Tailgating (outside) is allowed all day Friday and Saturday. Tailgate setup is free for sellers, but a nominal ($10-15) donation to the club to help cover facility costs is appreciated. Several tailgaters arrive Friday, the majority arrive during the early morning on Saturday.

12:00pm - 7:00pm: Early Birds may enter (requires ticket purchase).

Saturday, (day two) March 15, 2025 (Tool Sale and Auction)

7:00am: Early Birds enter to shop
8:00am: Doors open for general public
1:00pm - 4:00pm: AUCTION (Note the new time)

An Early Bird ticket buys the attendee the ability to shop on Friday and Saturday before the general public comes in at 8am Saturday. Tickets can be purchased on Friday from Dave Murphy at the event.

The 2025 Tool Show and Auction date has been announced for the weekend of March 14 and 15th 2025!

As always setup and early entry will be Friday, March 14th with the actual show and auction to commence Saturday, March 15th.

Consignments for 2025 have been coming in at a steady pace and will accept consignments from consignors willing to wait until March 9, 2025.
Our fee is only 15%. If you have a consignment lot you would like to submit, To do so, please click the Tool Donations page on the home page.

2024 Auction

The 2024 Auction and Tool Sale was held Saturday March 16, 2023 at the Damascus Maryland Volunteer Fire Association Activity Center. The Auction started at 2pm and featured approximately 300 lots, consisting mostly of collector quality tools, and featuring many hand planes including a Stanley number 55, two Stanley number 2's, a Stanley Number 289 rabbet plane, a Stanley Number 72 Chamfer Plane, many side bullnose planes as well as a multitude of beading planes. The bidding was well attended and spirited!

2023 Auction

The 2023 Auction and Tool Sale was held Saturday March 11, 2023 at the Damascus Maryland Volunteer Fire Association Activity Center. The Auction started at 2pm, and featured over 300 lots, consisting of (but not limited to) large machinist vises by Starrett and Parker, a stunning two-man Disston crosscut saw, long handled adzes, gigantic “ice machine” wrenches, hand saws, carving benches, Stanley plane No.’s 39, 48,49, ,289, etc., several Bedrock and Union planes, a collection of early Baltimore planes, translucent Arkansas stones, and mint wrench and socket sets by Snap-On, S-K, Craftsman, Husky, Armstrong, Proto.

2022 Auction

The 2022 Tool Sale and Auction was held Saturday October 1, 2022 at the Damascus Maryland Volunteer Fire Association Activity Center. The Auction started at 2pm, and featured over 300 lots, consisting of (but not limited to) mostly vintage woodworking tools, planes, chisels, anvils, tool chests, etc.
